About DCE

Learning never ends and betterment of life depends on the adaptation of new discovery, knowledge and skill. The Directorate of Continuing Education (DCE) in Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has been established in view of long demand for continuous professional development (CPD) of the engineers in Bangladesh to adopt with the intense global development of Science, Technology and Engineering. This directorate was introduced in early 1995. The objective of the DCE is to assist the development, upgradation and renewal of knowledge, understanding and skill development.

Objetives of DCE

The objective of the Directorate of Continuing Education Centre at BUET is to assist in and to promote the development, upgradation, and renewal of knowledge and skills, in the field of science and technology of teachers, engineers, scientists, managers, planners, administrators, and others through;
(i) the dissemination of new knowledge and techniques, and
(ii) training in established knowledge andtechniques.
It will require education and organizational efforts distinct from the degree programmes offered at BUET and may include off-campus instruction. Although the Directorate would be an Academic Centre, it would develop the most important interface between BUET and the various sectors of development.

Activities of DCE

In order to achieve its objectives, the activities of DCE would be
01.To establish and promote the linkage of BUET with local and foreign academic and professional institutions, agencies, organizations, and industries in respect of continuing education.
02.To organize and implement the objectives of such linkage programmes.
03.To plan and organize continuing education courses to be offered by the departments, centres, and institutions.
04.To plan and organize interdisciplinary continuing education courses, seminars, conferences, workshops, etc.
05.To plan and organize seminar, workshop, sandwich or other courses etc., as and when requested by outside agencies/ organizations.
06.To plan and organize for the teachers and the staff of BUET
Continuing education courses
Participation, under the rules of the university, in courses, seminars, conferences, workshop etc., offered locally or abroad
07.To plan and organize post-graduate programs not offered by the departments.
08.To establish and maintain contact with national, regional, and institutional organizations/institutions engaged in similar activities.
09.To conduct research and publish journals and books, etc., in the field of continuing education.
10.To take up such other programs which will facilitate in achieving its aims and objectives.
